Tested for you: “Cryo Rubber Mask” by Dr.Jart+

The Dr. Jart+ rubber mask falls under the K-Beauty category. The “K” stands for Korean skincare and refers to beauty products and skincare routines that originated in South Korea. It’s no coincidence that the most popular beauty trends on TikTok and elsewhere now come from Korea. They simply know best how to achieve radiant, beautiful skin.

Dr.Jart+ is one of the leading K-beauty brands. The name is derived from “Doctor Joins Art.” The brand was founded in Seoul in 2005 by dermatologist Dr. Sung Jae Jung and entrepreneur Leeo Chin Wook, a former architect. Inspired by art, they wanted to create Korea’s first Active-Derm skincare brand that does not require a visit to the doctor.

The Premier Class of K-Beauty

Dr.Jart+’s Cryo Rubber Masks are among the brand’s most renowned innovations. They combine the most advanced ingredients and technologies. The rubber mask was inspired by professional Korean derma treatments, such as Korean cold facial treatments. The 2-step mask combines a highly effective ampoule packed with firming adenosine and peptides with a cooling rubber mask that lowers skin temperature, so that the skin appears visibly firmer and lifted after just 20 minutes.

Because art has also played a major role at Dr.Jart+ from the very beginning, the brand has teamed up with the South Korean Girl-Group ifeye for the campaign for the new, improved Cryo-Rubber Masks. The six girls (Kashia, Rahee, Won Hwayeon, Sasha, Taerin, and Meu) are being hailed as the next icons of K-pop. They made their debut just last year with the EP “Erlu Blue.” This collaboration has resulted not just in a simple skincare campaign, but in a cultural fusion—a bold blend of beauty, art, and Korean creativity.

Testing the blue rubber mask

I have to admit, I was a little nervous about what to expect during my test after seeing the picture of the rubber mask on the packaging. But in real life, it doesn’t look quite as S&M-ish when you take it out of its plastic sleeve. The accompanying ampoule isn’t a standard ampoule, as you might expect, but a silver-colored sachet from which you squeeze out the contents. The product is milky white and not quite as runny. This allows it to be easily spread over the cleansed face without “running.”

The mask, which is applied on a transparent film, comes in two parts for the upper and lower face. Although it’s rubber-like, it’s so thin that it conforms perfectly to the face. Nothing slips out of place. Everything stays in place during the 20-minute application time. The mask feels pleasantly cool on the skin. The eyes, mouth, and nostrils remain uncovered.

After 20 minutes, I remove the two mask pieces. They haven’t changed; they look just as they did before application. Still, they’re intended for single-use only. I massage the remaining serum into my skin until the product is fully absorbed. My face feels perfectly hydrated and plumped up. And a glance in the mirror shows that my complexion looks smoother and more radiant than before. Very good value for money when I compare the Dr. Jart+ Rubber Mask with other sheet masks.

Quick Guide:

  1. After cleansing your skin, open the ampoule and apply the entire contents.
  2. Open the mask, remove the film, and place it on your face.
  3. Leave on for twenty minutes.
  4. Remove the mask and massage the remaining contents of the ampoule into your skin until they are fully absorbed.
  5. Use three times a week.

There are four masks to choose from for different skin needs: Soothing,
Firming, Brightening, and the blue Moisturizing Mask I tested, which, with hyaluronic acid and peptides, is specifically suited for drier skin.
