Tested for you: Eye cream “The Rich Eye Cream” by Augustinus Bader
When it comes to eye creams opinions have always been divided. Is such a special product really necessary? No, say some. “A well-formulated face cream can also be used for the eyes. The skin around the eyes doesn’t need any different active ingredients than the rest of the facial skin,” says Dutch dermatologist Dr. Marjolein Leenarts. Proponents, on the other hand, argue that the skin around the eyes is thinner and more sensitive, which also makes it more susceptible to irritation and environmental toxins. Tired, puffy eyes or bags under the eyes would also benefit from an eye cream.
I don’t think there’s a one-size-fits-all answer to this question. The question you should ask yourself is: Where do I live and what is my lifestyle like? For example, I spend most of the year in a sunny country. Despite using UV protection every day, my skin needs more care after exposure to the sun, especially after long summer months—particularly around the eyes. Fine wrinkles and lines reveal this when I look in the mirror.
Eye cream? Please make it rich!
That’s why, in the fall, I regularly use a rich eye cream in the morning and evening that deeply nourishes this thin skin area while visibly lifting, firming, and smoothing it. “The Rich Eye Cream” from the Augustinus Bader collection is not exactly a bargain at 185 euros for a 15 ml jar, but it works wonders.
The Rich Eye Cream, our richest eye cream yet, uses our proprietary TFC8® technology in combination with effective ingredients such as wild gentian root extract and the Matrikine Anti-Wrinkle Complex to intensively nourish, tighten, and firm the eye contour while reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
Reverse emulsion technology provides intense hydration and a rich texture that is perfect for rejuvenating the delicate, aging skin around the eyes. The included cooling steel massage applicator helps reduce puffiness and promotes microcirculation.”
Professor Augustinus Bader, MD, PhD, Leipzig, Germany
What does TFC8 mean?
Trigger Factor Complex TFC is a carefully formulated blend of high-quality vitamins, lipids, and highly effective, specially developed peptides. Professor Bader, a pioneer in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, developed it after more than three decades of innovative research in the field of skin healing and tissue repair.
TFC8 technology delivers key nutrients and powerful natural ingredients to the skin, creating and promoting an optimal environment for cell renewal. It transforms potent base formulations into smarter, adaptive skincare that can address individual concerns—such as fine lines and wrinkles or damage caused by external stressors. This conditions the skin over the long term, making it look and feel healthier, firmer, stronger, and more even with regular use.
How should eye cream be applied correctly?
I dab a small amount of the product around the eye and massage it into the area. I use the steel applicator for this, but you can also use your fingers. I like this small, stylish tool, and it also promotes blood circulation: it glides smoothly over the skin and has a pleasant cooling effect. I start at the inner corner of the eye, move under the eye to the outer corner, then back over the upper eyelid until I have completely circled the eye. While massaging, I gently hold the skin near the nose with my other hand. I repeat the entire eye contour four to six times.
I find it particularly striking that the skin around the eyes feels deeply nourished and well moisturized immediately after application and massage. With regular use of Rich Eye Cream, my summer wrinkles are also less noticeable and the skin appears smoother.

To travel during my profession as a beauty journalist was never enough for my. Also my six month on a world trip didn’t do it. It always attracts me to other cities, foreign countries, on roadtrips and places I don’t know yet. But I am not only interested in “culture” and “cream”, I am also fascinated by people who have stories to tell . Such unique experiences I want to share with you.
