Tested for you: The Swedish laundry care brand “Washologi”

“Washologi” roughly translates to “the science of laundry care.” The product range of this Swedish laundry care brand is based on market research findings regarding washing habits and needs. The survey showed that efficiency is the most important characteristic for laundry detergents, while scent and function are the top priorities for fabric softeners. In addition, a large number of people rated attractive design very positively. All respondents also preferred environmentally friendly products

It’s a problem almost everyone is familiar with: synthetic clothes, shirts, and athletic wear have been washed at 40 degrees. The laundry comes fresh out of the machine—and still smells unpleasantly sour. With the Swedish brand Washologi, that hasn’t happened to me with any of their products. And I’ve tried quite a few. I also find the line’s minimalist design particularly appealing, with its Nordic simplicity. It’s a real treat for the eyes in the bathroom or laundry room, especially when you look at the colorful array of standard laundry detergents on the shelves.

Efficient and stylish

Since I love wearing cashmere and silk in the summer, „Delicate Wash“ (750 ml, 18,90 Euro) is one of my favorites. It’s a liquid detergent for delicate fabrics that works effectively at just 30 degrees. It’s suitable for both hand washing and machine washing. 30 ml is enough for a full load of laundry. What it can’t do is remove sweat odors from performance clothing. For that, there’s “Sport Wash” from the Washologi line.

I also use “Delicate Wash” to pre-treat various stains. I apply a small amount of the detergent to the stain and gently rub it in. Then I wash the garment as usual. “Delicate Wash” contains silk extract and lanolin, which nourish, soften, and restore the fibers. The product is free of bleach and dyes, biodegradable, and has a delicate floral scent of mimosa. The bottle is made of bioplastic.

The „Fabric Softener Delicate“ (750 ml, 27,90 Euro), which also has a gentle mimosa scent, can be used on all fabrics, including denim, silk, wool, cashmere, spandex, and technical fabrics. The silk extract has a conditioning effect. It preserves the breathability of the garments and reduces static electricity. Here, too, laundry can be washed by hand or in the machine. 10 ml from the dispenser cap is sufficient for a full load of laundry.

A quick refresh

„Linen Water Harmony“ is designed to refresh fabrics between washes and leave them smelling as if they’ve just been washed. I spray the linen water not only on clothes, but also on bedding, curtains, the sofa, and anything else I want to smell of a hint of lavender. It’s best to spray from a distance of about 15 to 20 cm to avoid water spots, especially on delicate materials like silk. The linen water also reduces static electricity. It is biodegradable and free of dyes. For on the go, there’s a small bottle in a convenient travel size (100ml, 8,90 Euro).

Born out of necessity

“I was in the thick of life, with a full-time job, as a mother of four sons, and in the middle of renovating our house. We were also renovating the laundry room. When it came time to set it up, I realized that not a single laundry care product met my standards,” says Washologi founder and CEO Viktoria Widengren.

What she was looking for were products with stylish designs that were sustainable and efficient. But they weren’t available anywhere. The idea for Washologi was born. Widengren: “I contacted various manufacturers and started developing. From the product range to scents and design to the labels, I designed everything from scratch.” A year later, in August 2014, the new Swedish laundry care brand hit the market.

On the Washologi website, you can not only buy products ranging from laundry detergent to lint shavers. You also get plenty of valuable tips on how to properly care for fabrics, on detergent dosages, and on how to remove various stains. In addition to the clothing care guide, there are also various tutorials on how to properly wash different types of garments.
