Tested for you: Eyebrows “Brow Mascara” by Jacks Beauty
Eyebrows, as is often said, form the “frame” of the face and are one of the most important features we use to express our emotions. Studies show that people have a harder time identifying faces without eyebrows. They are therefore also a key feature for recognition. And they facilitate social interaction. For example, raising the eyebrows signals surprise, while furrowing them signals skepticism or anger.
But the actual function of eyebrows is a remnant of evolution. Originally, their arched shape was designed to keep salty sweat off the forehead and rainwater away from the eyes. At the same time, they acted as a filter against dust and small particles of dirt. Today, we have sweatbands, umbrellas, or goggles to handle such situations.
Eyebrow trends
For years, eyebrows have been subject to countless, ever-changing styling trends. From narrow and plucked in the 1990s to bushy and natural around 2014 (Cara Delevingne). We’ve now arrived at the “natural yet defined” look. To achieve this, the right “tool” is essential. I chose the brow mascara from Jacks Beauty.
“Naturally shaped eyebrows frame your face and make your eyes shine beautifully. They add structure and balance—whether you prefer a minimalist or dramatic look,” says Miriam Jacks, beauty expert and founder of Jacks beauty line.
Brow Mascara for care and color
In fact, the brow mascara looks just like mascara in a tube, except that the brush is much, much smaller. The brow mascara comes in three shades: Blonde, Taupe, and Brown. It has a light, waxy texture that is nourishing and is designed to promote hair growth. Because of my dark eyebrows, I’m ordering the brown shade. Taupe is recommended for blond, red-haired, and brown-haired women with cool, ashy undertones in their eyebrow hairs, and Blond for red-haired and light-blond women with warm undertones. So “Brown” is the right choice for me.
I use the brow mascara as recommended. First, I brush my eyebrows into shape with a brow brush, like the one often found at the end of an eyebrow pencil. Then I apply the tinted brow mascara. To achieve a natural look, I brush through the hairs a few times in the direction of hair growth. This gives my brows a subtle tint and precise definition. So far, I like the result. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last very long. My eyebrows will soon be back to doing their own thing.
For longer-lasting hold, use a second coat of mascara!!!!
After checking the website, I realized that I should have also ordered the clear version for longer-lasting hold. It says: “Use the clear brow mascara to shape and set your eyebrows—without adding any color.”
It makes me wonder why they didn’t just design the tinted mascara to last longer from the start. After all, what woman wants to touch up her brows multiple times throughout the day and then have to carry two products in her bag? On top of that, Jacks Beauty’s brow mascaras aren’t exactly a bargain at 24.90 euros for 5 ml. So as an add-on, I’d rather reach for my styling gel, which was recommended to me a while back by a colleague who runs a very successful beauty blog. It lasts all day and costs only 6.95 euros.
