Tested for you: Against dry feet “Repair Cream” from Gehwol Fusskraft

Many people are familiar with the problem of dry feet. Especially after winter with thick socks and warm boots, the soles of the feet can be very dry and even have cracks on the heels. I know situations like this, even though I apply cream to my feet twice a day – morning and evening – in both winter and summer, and yet they often feel dry when I take off my socks. Diabetics and neurodermatitis sufferers have it even worse. They have to deal with complaints such as cracked skin, itching and inflammation, which ultimately leads to excessive transepidermal water loss and structural defects in the deeper layers of the skin. Finding the right product for very dry feet is often a challenge. Many products are either rich and greasy or they are quickly absorbed but offer hardly any care. Rich creams with a water-in-oil (W/O) base are usually only absorbed slowly into the skin or leave a protective film on the surface of the skin, which can be perceived as unpleasant. With soy lecithin to combat dry feet With the “Repair Cream” from Gehwol, I have found the right solution for me. The magic word for soft soles is now soy lecithin. It is the key active ingredient in the cream, which helps the care substances to penetrate the skin faster and more efficiently – without making it greasy. Lecithins are lipids that form natural components of cell membranes in both humans and plants. Plant lecithins have the same power as the body’s own lecithins. One of the outstanding advantages is that lecithin has emulsifying properties. This means that it can bind together water and fat components in cosmetics and thus facilitate the formulation of creams. The lecithin spontaneously forms liquid-crystalline, stable structures – so-called liposomes – in the emulsion. The liposomes formed from lecithin have high penetration kinetics. The lipids and active ingredients in the cream are infiltrated deep into the skin of dry feet to carry out their repair work. Nourish and protect Other active ingredients in the “Repair Cream” include high-quality ingredients such as safflower and evening primrose oil, jojoba oil, shea butter and squalane, which provide intensive nourishment. Powerful antioxidants such as vitamin E/tocopherol protect against harmful free radicals. Vitamin E also binds moisture, hydrating the dry skin on the feet. Body cleansing is the be-all and end-all for me to start the day fresh. I can’t do without a shower in the morning. Nevertheless, I am careful and use most shower gels very carefully, only using them on the “neuralgic” areas of the body. Unfortunately, many dry out the skin unpleasantly. It starts to tighten soon after drying off and you can’t reach into the cream pot quickly enough to at least compensate for the loss of moisture to some extent. I was therefore particularly excited about Augustinus Bader’s body cleanser. One of the claims of “The Body Cleanser” is: “Gently removes impurities and dirt without stripping or drying out the skin.” Admittedly, I am also a very visual person. And the bright blue bottle with its bronze-colored tilt cap simply looks good in the bathroom and is pleasant to hold with its curves. Gel becomes foam I first wet my skin in the shower before applying the cleanser. As I massage it in, the light gel texture transforms into a luxurious, rich lather. The calming scent of eucalyptus fills my nose, which is not only refreshing but also relaxing. I already feel good and completely clean. I rinse the foam residue from my skin with the final shower jet. My skin feels soft and nourished and there are no signs of moisture loss. A body serum for the night is a different, promising approach to body skin care. This is far too often criminally neglected. However, just like the face, important repair and regeneration processes take place here while we sleep. The regenerating night body serum from Moroccanoil supplies the cells with highly effective ingredients: A combination of argan and tsubaki oil is rich in antioxidants that prevent loss of firmness and moisture in the tissue. Biobotox in combination with vitamin C sounds interesting. After all, both are helpers against premature ageing of the skin. The latter is not only known as an effective antioxidant that protects the skin from the “evil” free radicals. This is because these can accelerate the ageing process. Vitamin C is partly responsible for the firmness and elasticity of the skin. By stimulating collagen production. Ultimately, this helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Not to forget: The vitamin has a brightening effect. It has the ability to reduce hyperpigmentation and age spots and brightens the complexion. Biobotox instead of botulinum toxin? Biobotox is being hyped as a competitor to Botox therapy in anti-ageing care. But there is no comparison. While botulinum toxin specifically blocks the muscles and paralyzes them for a certain period of time, Biobotox primarily has a relaxing effect on the surface of the skin. The substance is a plant-based active ingredient such as spilanthol from paracress or argireline, an organic chemical compound consisting of six amino acids, which is why it is also known as a hexapeptide. But for those who are injection-phobic, it is a soft alternative to at least counteract fine expression lines. But that’s not all. The biobotox power serum also contains other highly effective anti-ageing substances. The first is ferulic acid, which has a similar effect to vitamin C (3-O-Vit.C). The two are a powerful duo that activates collagen production. Ferulic acid is an organic compound found in various plants, e.g. stinkash, dill, rice or sweet grasses such as wheat or barley. Purslane is also an active ingredient of plant origin. In German it is also known as purslane extract. In anti-ageing skincare, it is said to have pore-refining, rejuvenating, moisturizing and soothing properties. But more importantly: Purslane is an innovative time-control molecule that protects the telomeres, i.e. the caps of the chromosomes, and thus ensures the longevity of the cells. My test The “Vit C + Biobotox Serum” comes in a brown pipette bottle. This makes sense because vitamin C is extremely sensitive to heat and light. The liquid is also brown. A radiant complexion drop by drop. Yes, that’s what I want – and not just for major holidays and festive occasions, but every day. This means that the glow on my face must not be too penetrating and conspicuous, but must look beautifully subtle. A real radiant complexion. And I have found my perfect recipe for this: Duo for a radiant complexion For my radiant complexion I use the “Glow Concentrate 5% Vitamin C + Aloe Vera” (Glow Drops) and the “9-Ingredient Facial Care”. Both from Typololy. It is the perfect duo for an instant, vibrant glow to the skin. All tiredness disappears from the face. The “Glow Concentrate” contains antioxidant vitamin C and aloe vera for a fresh radiance. The mica particles still look very intensely shimmering in the bottle, but as soon as you use the pipette to mix two to three drops into your foundation, tinted serum or day cream, the shine factor is minimized. In this way, you can also determine the intensity of your glow yourself. For a more intense result, simply add a few more drops. Because I’m not a foundation user, I use Typology’s “9-Ingredient” moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, which is derived from fermented wheat. Another key ingredient is organic coconut oil, which nourishes the skin and prevents it from drying out. I find the minimalist, fragrance-free cream perfect for me because of its light, non-oily texture. This makes it suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin. Good mixture For my personal glow complexion, I put 3-4 Glow Drops in the palm of my hand and mix them with a hazelnut-sized amount of moisturizer. I prefer to use a small spatula for mixing to get a homogeneous amount. I spread it evenly over the entire face. For an extra kick, I also apply a little of the shine concentrate as a highlighter – selectively on the highest point of the cheekbones and/or under both brow arches. In the evening, I cleanse my face as usual with micellar water. For environmental reasons, I use reusable pads that my sister made for me. Yet the importance of protein goes far beyond muscle building: rather, proteins are a valuable ally for all people who want to lose weight. “Proteins or protein are the best satiator in nutrition there is,” knows fitness trainer and nutrition expert Jan Bahmann. “Not only can it be a very great help in quelling ravenous appetites, but it also automatically gets the metabolism going. Retinol – as often as I have already written about this active ingredient, I thought to myself that there simply couldn’t be anything new about it. It is one of the most proven and scientifically recognized substances in medicine and also in skin care. New products are coming onto the market all the time, but they are as similar as two peas in a pod. Hardly any skincare line today does not have a retinol product in its portfolio. Sometimes they contain a little more or a little less of the proven anti-ageing substance or they are based on different derivatives of vitamin A acid. Retinol in a different way Munich dermatologist Dr. Timm Golüke takes a different approach with his new “Retinol Solution”. It is also designed to smooth and firm the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. The serum minimizes fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation spots, making the complexion appear more even. Make-up palettes are not really my thing. Half of the colors and products I’ve bought so far have mostly remained unused. The green was too glittery for me, the mascara brush too thick and greasy, the eyebrow pencil far too hard. As a result, many a palette ended up in the bin at some point. Anything but economical and environmentally friendly. That’s right! That’s why I haven’t bought a palette for a long time. Make-up palette by Loni Baur Why I have now broken my resolution is down to Loni Baur. As a beauty journalist, I have experienced her live as a make-up artist on many occasions. I admire her know-how, creativity and expertise. She is one of the most successful German make-up artists for good reason. Loni has been creating looks for Fashion Weeks for 25 years, has done make-up for stars such as Charlène of Monaco, Gigi Hadid and Lenny Kravitz and has worked with well-known designers and renowned magazines. That’s why I was so excited about her own beauty products and simply had to make an exception for her palette. SOS helpers have a lot to do with me after a long summer like this one with plenty of sun, salt or chlorine water and constant UV protection. The skin is drier than usual – my beautician has also noticed this – and perhaps even a little irritated.
