Tested for you: Rosacea Cream „Redness Relief with Micreobalance“ from Gladskin

Rosacea is known to be one of the most widespread skin problems. It is also called couperosis or copper rose or copper fin. It usually appears after the age of 30, more frequently in women than in men. The skin disease manifests itself differently in men than in women, often with a thickening of the connective tissue and the sebaceous glands, mostly around the nose area. Rosacea – typical signs I am one of the majority of women who have to struggle with rosacea – although I am still lucky. In my case, only the cheeks are affected, the left more than the right, and the rosacea is not particularly severe overall. It manifests itself in redness and dilated veins. This is typical for mild rosacea. The only problem is that once rosacea is present, it stays. In severe cases, vesicles can even form, and the redness and inflammatory pustules (see picture below) can sometimes extend to the eyelids. Fortunately, I have been spared from this so far. However, in winter when it is cold and the blood circulation is boosted by alcohol consumption, for example, which hardly ever happens with me anyway, the redness becomes more visible. I therefore no longer go to the sauna anyway, only to the steam bath. Unclear causes for the redness Where does rosacea come from? Experts are still arguing about this today. A combination of hereditary and environmental factors is discussed. But none of this has been scientifically proven. Bacteria and the composition of the skin’s microbiome most likely play a significant role in the development of rosacea. This can lead to inflammatory reactions such as redness, itching, pain and swelling. The bacterium Staphylococcus aureus is regarded as the primary culprit. Staphylococci are spherical bacteria that in themselves belong to the normal flora of skin and mucous membranes in humans. However, Staphylococcus aureus is the species with the highest virulence, responsible for inflammation and more. Dermatologists treat rosacea with antibiotics, among others. The only drawback is, antibiotics lead to antimicrobial resistance when taken for a long time and Staphylococcus aureus no longer responds to them. Help for my microbiome Swallowing antibiotics to get my rosacea under control is out of the question for me. And I really don’t suffer that much that I would put my body through that. That’s why I decided to test an over-the-counter product containing the active ingredient StaphefektTM, which kills only Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Color Stick „Nudies All Over Face Matte“ from Nudestix

Color stick as a multitasking tool. I love practical beauty utensils that perform several tasks at once. That’s exactly what the Nudies from Nudestix do. At first glance, the handy twist pens look like a normal blush stick. But they can do more. They can be applied to cheeks, but also to lips and eyelids. So they are real multifunctional talents. Packed are all color sticks from Nudestix, whether Face Matte, Face Bloom or Face Glow, in a pretty little black box -naturally matte – with a handy mirror in the lid. Color stick for blush & glow The handling is child’s play. While one end of the stick is equipped with the vegan color stick, at the other end sits a short, dense makeup brush – almost like a mini Kabuki – for perfect distribution of the color. So I twist the color stick out of the sleeve a bit and apply it to the highest point of my cheekbones. I also give it a kick under the hairline and on the tip of the chin to sculpt the face a bit. If you want the nose to appear even narrower, you also apply a little color along the bridge of the nose. Blend carefully It is important to blend the color with the brush so that no edges remain visible. I find this works best with circular movements. Especially at the hairline and chin, there should only be a hint of color. From the temples, I smudge the blush to under the brow arches, which intensifies the look. Super at the matte Nudies is that the color not only appears beautiful matte when applied, it also remains so throughout the day. Three good reasons, why I really like the Nudies in the shade “Naughty N’ Spice”: because it is so beautifully matte because it is a multitasking balm because it is practical for on the go with the integrated brush „Nudies All Over Face Matte“ in Naughty N’ Spice from Nudestix, US$ 35… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Eye Massage with „SmartGoggles“ from Therabody

Futuristic high-tech eye massage glasses with a wide range of applications: Restful sleep. Relieve eye strain. Relieve headaches. Relieve facial tension. Reduce stress. Or simply relax physically and mentally. All this and more is in the portfolio of the intelligent eye mask with SmartSense Technology with three customizable modes. “Smart” eye massage How does SmartSense Technology work? It combines a biometric heart rate sensor with vibration, heat and massage to control SmartRelax mode, which physically lowers the heart rate and helps reduce stress and anxiety. Heart rate is measured by a built-in sensor on the inside of the massage goggles. This allows the parameters to be individually adjusted to the person who wants to relax with it. A total of three programs are available for relaxing: Focus, SmartRelax and Sleep. They differ in the type of preset massage, vibration and heat levels. For example, the temples are relaxed, the forehead or the cheeks are loosened. Heat and vibration can also be adjusted to one’s own needs via the control buttons in three stages each. After 15 minutes, the massage glasses switch themselves off. Relaxation for the senses Visually, Therabody’s Smart Goggles remind me a bit of oversized sleeping goggles. They are adjusted to the size of your head with an elastic strap. You can’t move much with them, but you’re supposed to relax. And the best way to do that is to lie on your back and do nothing. As soon as the massage goggles are switched on, they massage the upper half of the face by filling and emptying the air chambers as well as additional vibrations. At the touch of a button, it can additionally generate heat. Best with music Music supports the relaxation experience and also helps to block out the massage goggles’ own noise, which emits air noises and a slight hum when the chambers are filled. In one test, the volume was rated at 47 decibels. A multi-sensory sound therapy “TheraMind” is available for the Smart Googles in a corresponding app, which is best listened to via headphones. Practical especially when traveling and for storage is the flexibility of the massage glasses. They can be folded in the middle at a prepared bend and stowed in the accompanying black fabric case. Packed in this way, they do not get dusty if they are not used for a long time. Oh, and you should definitely remove your makeup before putting on your smart goggles.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Lifting Mask „EMS-Lifting“ from Medi-Lift

The lifting mask made of black medical silicone looks a little scary at first sight. But do not be frightened! I’m not looking for an outfit for a fetish party, although it would certainly score there too. No, all jokes aside! What I tested this time is an EMS lifting mask for the face. EMS stands for Electrical Muscle Stimulation. Known so far only as an effective body workout. But we also have muscles in thelface that can be stimulated to shape, tone and tighten them – especially in the cheek and chin area. Exactly where sagging tends to show up. And that’s exactly where the Medi-Lift mask comes in. You don’t have to invest much time either. 10 minutes a day is enough, they say. EMS lifting at home The mask comes from Japan. There, the Medi-Lift series has already collected 53 beauty awards from various magazines and media in the categories of women and men. According to the description, you could say that the lifting mask works like a kind of intensified yoga for the face or similar to the Gua Sha stone – only even more effective. Namely, the mimic muscles are treated with two different EMS modes. This not only improves muscle volume, which in turn smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the mouth, but also tightens the jawline. The lifting mask is also effective against facial puffiness. Lifting mask for any face shape The mask fits everyone, woman or man, round or square face shape. True, most faces are asymmetrical and vary in size. But the elastic medical grade silicone adapts to any shape and size. With the program, you can choose from six levels, individually adjustable for the right and left sides of the face, to give the muscles a “customized” workout, so to speak. Particularly addressed by the EMS technology are “critical” muscles in the face such as the large zygomaticus muscles that run longitudinally along the cheeks.lose tension and volume, wrinkles and sagging skin occur. In release mode, the masseter muscle, which pulls down from the cheeks toward the jawline, is relaxed with low-frequency EMS of 20~100Hz. The masseter muscles are often overused, which can lead to a square jaw. My personal test: First, the two triangular massage tools have to be charged. It takes about 90 minutes each, but then they last for about five hours. It’s a shame that only one charging cable is included, which is of course a special one, so you can only connect the two parts to the socket one after the other.… weiterlesen

Glycation: Don’t Let Yourself Get Sugared Up!

Scientists call glycation the “saccharification” of tissue components. In the skin, collagen and elastin are particularly affected. Stiffened fibers mean that the skin visibly loses tone and elasticity, especially in the areas of the cheeks and chin, and ages more quickly overall. An effective means of reversing this process does not yet exist – although some cosmetics manufacturers promise it. One small consolation: prevention can prevent worse. Glycation? How does it actually occur? Chemically, the body reacts with proteins or lipids and forms so-called AGEs (Advanced Glycation Endproducts). We don’t even have to constantly snack on sweets to do this. We absorb the glycation end products mainly via glucose and fructose, but also in fried, grilled, roasted or baked food. The AGEs are mainly contained in the brown outer layer that forms when food is heated, such as roast skin or bread crust. Even with burnt milk, a reaction of protein and fat molecules with sugar molecules, i.e. glycation, takes place. This was proven by the French biochemist Louis Maillard in 1912. The same process takes place in our organism when excessive amounts of sugar enter the bloodstream. The only difference is that it happens much more slowly than in an overheated milk pot, because our body temperature is also lower. The fact that blood sugar shoots up during an overload of sweets is due to the fact that this excess cannot be excreted via the kidneys. Glycation damages the organism AGEs not only cause the skin to age faster. Hyperglycemia triggers a wide variety of diseases. It promotes cardiovascular disease by clogging the arteries. It is also involved in diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis and chronic kidney disease. Increased AGE concentrations have even been detected in cataracts and in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. But back to the skin. There, the sugar-protein compounds coat the collagen and elastin fibers. As a result, these structural proteins stiffen and lose their ability to form healthy, new cells. As a result, fine lines and wrinkles remain visible because the skin can no longer compensate for them naturally and also stores less moisture. It looks sallower and overall older, less firm and elastic. The dreaded sagging also sets in much earlier than biologically intended. Check for the glycemic index The WHO (World Health Organization) recommends a daily sugar ration for adults that does not exceed five percent of the total calories. This corresponds, for example, to two apples, or one apple plus 100 grams of berries, 200 grams of whole grain rice.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Natural lipstick from marie w.

With natural lipsticks, I am always somewhat reluctant to buy. They usually lack color brilliance and intensity, especially with red tones. Therefore, I was curious how the new color “Rosentango” by Marie W. looks on my lips. A few more words about marie w. The founder behind is Maria Wißler. She describes herself as a quality fanatic and pioneer when it comes to plants, animals and cosmetics. 22 years of pioneering work for natural cosmetics lie behind her. After “green” studies, she founded the first mail-order natural cosmetics business. Her principles are still valid for her today: care with plant extracts, preferably from organic cultivation, free from synthetic preservatives and petroleum chemicals. Her raw materials, such as organic shea royale from Uganda or organic argan oil from Morocco, come from fair trade sources. In this way, she supports women’s projects in the respective countries. When it comes to her lipsticks, Marie Wißler is also committed to sustainable business, protection of the environment, nature and climate, and fair and social production conditions. The natural lipsticks contain only a few, but highly pure ingredients. Real gold, for example, and precious, hand-pressed organic vegetable oil from African fair trade women’s projects. The pencils are packaged in an environmentally friendly manner in sleeves made of the renewable raw materials wood and paper. The brochure is printed with mineral oil-free inks. A combination of highly pure iron oxides, as found in the earth, is used for the colors of the pencils.noxide verwendet, wie sie in der Erde vorkommen. Natural lipsticks with real gold But back to “Tangorose”. The first thing that strikes me is that the application is easy. The pencil is designed so that I do not need a contour pencil, which I usually use. So I trace the mouth contour with the pen tip and then paint the entire surface of the lips with color. I’m surprised at how intense the red tone turns out. It also feels feather-light on the lip skin and is perfectly blended with the natural tint after 1-2 minutes. The gold content in the texture gives a matte shine without being obtrusive. It also creates a pleasantly cool feeling on the lips and, together with the nourishing plant oils, acts as a moisturizer. The natural lipstick also passes the durability test with flying colors. It’s long-lasting and stays where it should be, namely on the lips. It neither settles in the lip wrinkles, nor on cups, glasses or the cheeks rather friends.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Make-up capsules „Milky Boost Capsules“ from Clarins

Little make-up capsules. What a great idea, I thought to myself when I received the transparent jar with 30 small, skin-colored capsules for testing. I liked it right away because such small doses are ideal, especially when traveling. You can put the capsules loosely in the cosmetic bag without any mishap. I also tried this out immediately. It worked! One make-up capsule per application Each capsule contains exactly as much makeup texture as you need for one application on the face. Practical and also quite clever, because in the small capsule the formula remains protected from contamination until it is opened. In addition, the empty capsule is biodegradable. So you don’t need to have a guilty conscience when disposing of it. The jar, made of 40 percent recycled glass, is also environmentally conscious because it can be refilled. There is also a refill bag with 30 capsules. The latest product in the “Milky Boost” series, like the entire line, has been developed according to ecological criteria. The tiny make-up capsules also contain 100 percent vegetable and natural peach kernel oil – a proven beautifier and nutrient for the complexion. In addition, there is organic currant extract. It is said to firm the skin and ensure better distribution of the incident light rays. The third in the trio of plants is cocoa extract – from fair trade, of course – to improve moisture in the tissues. Small capsule goes big But now for the test. I hold the capsule between my thumb and forefinger and turn the cap around on itself with my other hand until it can be detached from the capsule. One squeeze of the capsule “belly” and the skin-colored fluid emerges. I spread it mostly on my cheeks, where I could use more perfection. I also apply a touch to the forehead and chin. The light fluid can be blended “rimless”, connects immediately with the skin and leaves a radiant complexion. No unsightly shine, but a satin finish. By the way, the product comes in four shades. My conclusion: A small product with a big effect. When I look at myself in the mirror with my “Milky” complexion, I can only say: The little ones passed my test! “Milky Boost Capsules” from Clarins, 30 pieces, approx. 22 euros… weiterlesen

3 x 3 For More Defined Facial Contours

Three renowned beauty experts explain three ways to optimize facial features. What you can achieve with hyaluronic acid filler, makeup contouring and face yoga… Accentuated cheekbones, a defined chin line and a youthful V-shaped face is the desire of many women. To regain the “top model” look with defined facial features when it has been “lost” with the aging process, explain a specialist in surgery, a make-up artist and an expert in Face Yoga. The beauty doc says: Fill it up with hyaluronic acid! “For the attractiveness and harmony of the face, the zygomatic arch in the cheek area plays a particularly important role, because it provides contour,” explains Dr. Sina Djalaei, a specialist in surgery. The problem: With increasing age, the body reduces fatty tissue, and in addition, the volume of the face decreases due to gravity. As a result of this so-called sagging effect, nasolabial and marionette wrinkles can appear deeper, and facial features can look sad and tired. Filler treatment can correct missing or lost volume in the cheek area. Dr. Djalaei:“By performing a treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers at specific points on the zygomatic arch, the doctor can bring important ligaments under tension and lift the midface again.” The result: “The cheekbones can be emphasized, and at the same time an uplifting effect can occur. The shape of the face thus usually approaches an upward, youthful and alert V-shape again, and thus the ‘top model look'”, the expert says. The nice side effect is that treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers also stimulates the body to produce new collagen, which improves the elasticity of the skin and connective tissue. In addition to an experienced doctor, the treatment also requires a suitable filler: “In addition to excellent quality, durability and tolerability, the filler must have strong lifting power, especially in the zygomatic arch, such as the Juvéderm Voluma filler.” The result can be visible for up to 24 months. In addition to accentuated cheeks, a defined jawline also gives a beautiful contour. However, “Loss of volume in the cheeks and sagging of the tissue can make the chin line look spongy,” explains Dr. Djalaei. “In addition, sagging cheeks and a double chin can develop, which patients find disturbing.” This sagging in the lower half of the face can also be corrected with hyaluronic acid fillers, “Juvéderm Volux facial filler treatment is ideal for many who want a firmer, contoured chin and jawline.”… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Self tanner “Sun Face Tan Water” from Glynt

I love self tanner because I don’t like to walk around in spring with a winter pale face. Well, I’m not really pale by nature. But a bit of a sunkissed look without UV radiation is something nice. With many self-tanners that I have tried, I do not like the texture or the smell. For me, they are also not a replacement for a day cream, but an add-on, but not always the two textures get along well. Alternative were for me therefore often sun drops, which I mixed under the day care. A tanning water could be a good alternative for me, so I tried the “Face Tan Water” from Glynt. Tanning water The “Tan Water” self-tanner in a pump dispenser lives up to its name. It is actually a watery, transparent liquid. Like all self tanners, it contains the self-tanning active ingredient DHA (dihydroxyacetone), which combines with the proteins in the horny layer and thus tans the top layer of skin. The “tanning water” has already passed the smell test for me. It smells pleasantly cosmetic. After cleansing, I apply my day care as usual and wait long enough for it to be fully absorbed. From the self tanner I should give 1-3 doses on a cotton pad and spread it with circular movements from the center of the face in all directions. I do it that way for the first application. However, I have the feeling that too much of the tanner and also of my skincare remains in the pad. Less is more Next time I prefer to use my fingers. One pump is enough for the face – more of the liquid would run through my fingers anyway. I spread the self tanner from the bridge of the nose over the cheeks to the forehead and chin area, creating a soft transition to the neck. After about two hours, a beautiful, really very natural tan has set. For me, just right, not too light and not too dark. Therefore, it is also enough for me to re-treat only every second or third day to keep the sun-kissed result. In the sun – if it shines – I of course additionally apply a UV protection, because it is not included in the “Face Tan Water“. „SUN Face Tan Water“ from Glynt, 30 ml, € 9,60… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Bronzing Collection „Sunshine Memories“ from Artdeco

I love Italy. That’s why I was immediately drawn to the bronzing collection – because of its packaging in cobalt blue and brown. It reminds me of the wonderful ceramic and terracotta objects from the Italian town of Ostuni in Puglia. Ostuni is also known as “Città Bianca” – the white city in Italy. All the houses except the churches are whitewashed. In the narrow streets, spanned by many arches, with their often confusing interlocking houses with many outside staircases, one feels a touch of the Orient. Bronzing all year The bronzing collection includes everything you need for a radiant summer complexion. I was particularly enthusiastic about the design bronzer “Ceramic Work of Art”, which is composed of three different colors. Therefore, it is ideal to use at any time of year and for every complexion individually. The shades can be used individually or together. The best way, of course, is with a thick brush. The rather subtle pearl pigments contained in the powder reflect the light, giving the skin a natural glow. What often bothers me about bronzing powders is the darkening during the day. Here, the color remains as you applied it in the morning. Velvety and long-lasting. Vitamin E has an additional nourishing effect and prevents an unpleasant feeling of dryness. Shimmer made to measure If you just want a touch of freshness on the cheeks, use the vegan “Bronzing Blush”, also three colors with a slight shimmer. And then there is the Glow Bronzer, bronzing powder and highlighter in one. The high content of mineral mica pigments provides a pleasant glow. All powders are free of mineral oil, parabens and perfume. For the complete look in the make-up bag, there is also a vegan volume mascara in a limited design with a ceramic look. Bronzing-Kollektion „Sunshine Memories“ from Artdeco, from 23 Euro… weiterlesen
