Tested for you: „Facial Toner Witch Hazel“ from Thayers

A facial toner should be part of every skincare routine. There are countless on the market. Therefore, one would not have to lose too many words about it – one would think. What particularly excites me about the Thayers facial toner is the tradition behind it. Thayers has been a product with cult character in the USA for generations. The brand looks back on a 175-year history. It was started by Henry Thayer, son of a physician and one of the founding families of Massachusetts. He graduated in medicine from the Boston Medical School and also practiced medicine for a short time.In 1843, at the age of 21, Dr. Thayers opened a drugstore in the Douglass Block of Cambridge until 1847, when he established his famous Henry Thayer & Company at the corner of Main and Essex Streets in Cambridge. Facial tonic with the witch hazel In 1850, he began a series of experiments to perfect the technique of evaporation in a vacuum. His goal was to produce extracts in concentrated form, then the production of liquid extracts followed. Over the years, Dr. Thayer had over 800 herbal extract products in his portfolio, which he offered in the form of infusions, poultices, syrups, tinctures and wines. One of these was witch hazel extract, which was touted as a “tonic, astringent and sedative.” It became the brand’s signature ingredient and has remained so. Witch hazel has always been popular for its medicinal properties. To this day, it is used in Thayers’ alcohol-free facial toners and sprays. Their certified organic witch hazel is sourced from a family farm in Fairfield County, Connecticut. All of the brand’s skincare products are produced the old-fashioned way – not distilled, are animal-free and of the highest natural quality. They contain 195% more tannins. Found in the bark and skin of some plants, these substances have mild antioxidant properties and have a balancing effect. Witch hazel brings the skin into balance For me, a good toner is an essential intermediate step in my daily skincare routine. It moisturizes, re-cleanses and smoothes my skin. The complexion glows – completely without filters – and the subsequent skin care products can work even better. Unlike the toner, the gentle spray of the Witch Hazel Facial Mist can also be used in between, when the skin needs refreshment during the day. Witch hazel is one of my favorite ingredients because its natural astringent properties soothe the skin and restore pH balance after cleansing.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Exfoliation „Masque Exfoliant Enzymatique“ from Sisley

Exfoliation – In my opinion, an indispensable step in the skin care routine. It is known that the epidermis regenerates according to a cell renewal cycle that lasts an average of 28 days. The keratinocytes that reside in the epidermis gradually migrate to the surface of the skin to the horny layer. There they become dead cells, the so-called corneocytes, and give the complexion a sallow and dull appearance. The natural degradation process can be accelerated by exfoliation and clarifies the skin’s appearance. Therefore, once or twice a week should be peeling time after the usual facial cleansing. Now I am not a friend of aggressive rubbing grains. I prefer it soft, but intense. That’s why an enzymatic peeling is just right for me. The skin is freed from dead skin flakes just by the power of the enzymes contained. Exfoliation deluxe The “Masque Exfoliant Enzymatique” is, as the name suggests, something very special. It comes in the form of a fine, lightweight, white powder that turns into a creamy mass only upon contact with water. Its key ingredient is papain, an enzyme that occurs naturally in high concentrations in the still greenish skin and seeds of the fruit papaya, from which it is extracted. It has a natural exfoliating effect on the skin by breaking down the bonds between the dead skin cells that have accumulated on the surface. In this way, the dead horny flakes are removed immediately. Added to this are surfactants, also of plant origin, obtained from glycine and coconut. They cause the powder to turn into a foaming, cleansing cream when water is added. In addition, vitamin B3 frees the skin from the unsightly gray haze and makes it visibly radiant. One minute reaction time In a minute to a more radiant complexion – that suites my impatient mind very much. I take a teaspoon-sized amount of the white powder from the round bottle and sprinkle it directly into my palm. Then I add some water and mix it with my fingertips until I get a creamy mask. Don’t use too much water the first time. Rather add more if necessary, because otherwise the texture will be too liquid. Then I apply a thin but closed layer on the face and neck, leaving the eye area free. I use a wide mask brush for this because I like the delicate feel on the skin, but you can work just as well with your fingers.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Tinted Sun Care „Fusion Water Color“ from Isdin

Tinted sun care – what I think about it? I am a sunscreen junkie. But since I also like to even out a few uneven spots in my complexion, I wear partial makeup. And I find that legitimate even on the beach. It does not have to be the big make-up aria, but a little “corriger la fortune”. That’s why I also test tinted sun care again and again. Tinted sun care versus makeup The great thing about it: You save a care step with it and the color pigments offer additional UV protection, at the same time they can also cover small irregularities. Advantage over make-up products with SPF: The filters in tinted sun care are significantly higher and more powerful, so they are also suitable for vacations or real sunny days. More and more companies launch just such products, but so far I could not really make friends with any. Either they were too opaque for me that I really looked made up to plastered. Or the texture was too greasy. Or the color was just not right, because usually there are not so many shades to choose from as with normal foundations. And here is my test „Fusion Water Color SPF 50″ also has only three shades available. I opt for “medium”. And it works amazingly well: it’s transparent enough to blend with the skin tone. The texture is light and leaves no greasy residue, but – a nice glow! And, even though it’s so light, it conceals bumpy patches. Good mixture… My complexion looks more even. If necessary, I take, as with make-up also, one drop more and equalize redness around the nostrils. And since I now also have a bit of summer tint on my face (this also happens with factor 50), I mix “Fusion Water Color” with the untinted “Fusion Water” sun product. What I also like: Just like the sun care, you can use the product close to the eye, it does not burn. That’s my conclusion: The tinted sun care works. We have become great friends. „Fusion Water Color“ from Isdin, 50 ml , ca 24,90 Euro… weiterlesen

Tested for you: „3 Minutes Mask Agave“ from Urtekram

3 Minuten – So ungeduldig wie ich bin, ist das genau die richtige Zeit, die eine Maske bei mir brauchen darf. Die 3 minutes – As impatient as I am, this is exactly the right amount of time that a mask may take with me. The Agave Face Mask by Urtekram promises a moisture boost for the complexion in this record time on. The mask like all products of the Nordic Beauty brand show five good reasons for natural cosmetics lovers to like it. Urtekram products are: vegan, made in Denmark, certified by Ecocert Cosmos Organic, 99-100% natural origin, bottled in plant-based packaging and of course not tested on animals. What Nordic Beauty does not put in the tube: silicones, parabens, microplastics and synthetic preservatives. Pioneering spirit and commitment What does Urtekram actually mean? In Danish, Urte stands for herbs. These are the herbs and plant-based ingredients used in the biodegradable products. Kram means embrace, because the brand sees itself as a loving, warm embrace of nature. This also applies to packaging: over 85 percent of organic products are filled in plant-based packaging made from sugar cane waste. This means less use of conventional plastic made from petroleum and more care for our environment. Recyclable bioplastic is a more sustainable alternative that provides hygienic and safe packaging protection, especially for liquid products, without decomposing in the shower. In the yellow bag it is clearly recognized as plastic and easily recycled. 3 minutes – transparent face mask „Agave” If you expect a mask of the same color because of the sky blue tube, you will be disappointed. The texture is transparent and thick like a gel. I apply it with my fingers on the cleansed face, but you can also use a flat, wide brush. On the skin, the mask develops a pleasant coolness. It smells fresh and of alcohol, but it soon dissipates. Thanks to agave and aloe vera, it is an absolute moisture booster. The tissue seems to really soak it up. In the shower, I wash off the mask after three minutes. Not so easy. The texture has become a bit sticky. I use a disposable glove to help me, which makes it easier to remove. But the result is impressive: The skin is intensely refreshed, feels supple and glows. Once or twice a week is worth three minutes to me. „3 Minutes Moisturizing Face Mask Agave“ by Urtekram, 75 ml, ca.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Face Mist „Radiant Protection Mist“ from Royal Fern

I use a facial spray all year round because it’s a good moisture booster and settles makeup. But especially in summer, I’m especially grateful to have a small bottle handy in my handbag. At the moment, I like to reach for “Radiant Protection Mist” by Royal Fern. It promises not only more glow, but also protection against environmental pollution and the Blue Light from computer and smartphone. A face mist for all occasions I have been using the new spray for quite some time in the morning over my day care, on hot days in between, on the plane or before a Zoom meeting when the complexion needs an update. It is a facemist that not only promises glow, protection and moisture for the skin, but also keeps its promise. And this is what Dr. Timm Golueke, founder of Royal Fern Anti-Aging Skincare, says. „”You can also still incorporate the face mist into your skincare routine: Used between your different skincare steps, the spray maximizes the effectiveness of your skincare products. Especially if you use products with vitamin C or hyaluronic acid, they can penetrate better into the skin.“ Like the Munich dermatologist’s entire herbal skin care line, the face mist contains Royal Fern Complex. It has an antioxidant effect, reduces inflammation and contributes to overall healthy skin. Other potent active ingredients include Centella Asiatica, a powerful antioxidant and a rich source of amino acids. For protection against Blue Light provides butterfly ginger and hyaluronic acid moisturizes the skin and visually reduces fine lines and wrinkles. As an additional moisturizer, polyglutamic acid lays on the upper layer of the skin, replenishes and locks in cell moisture. The skin texture appears smoother and more even. „Radiant Protection Mist“ from Royal Fern, 30 ml, 54 $ lead photo by blackday @shutterstock… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Make-up capsules „Milky Boost Capsules“ from Clarins

Little make-up capsules. What a great idea, I thought to myself when I received the transparent jar with 30 small, skin-colored capsules for testing. I liked it right away because such small doses are ideal, especially when traveling. You can put the capsules loosely in the cosmetic bag without any mishap. I also tried this out immediately. It worked! One make-up capsule per application Each capsule contains exactly as much makeup texture as you need for one application on the face. Practical and also quite clever, because in the small capsule the formula remains protected from contamination until it is opened. In addition, the empty capsule is biodegradable. So you don’t need to have a guilty conscience when disposing of it. The jar, made of 40 percent recycled glass, is also environmentally conscious because it can be refilled. There is also a refill bag with 30 capsules. The latest product in the “Milky Boost” series, like the entire line, has been developed according to ecological criteria. The tiny make-up capsules also contain 100 percent vegetable and natural peach kernel oil – a proven beautifier and nutrient for the complexion. In addition, there is organic currant extract. It is said to firm the skin and ensure better distribution of the incident light rays. The third in the trio of plants is cocoa extract – from fair trade, of course – to improve moisture in the tissues. Small capsule goes big But now for the test. I hold the capsule between my thumb and forefinger and turn the cap around on itself with my other hand until it can be detached from the capsule. One squeeze of the capsule “belly” and the skin-colored fluid emerges. I spread it mostly on my cheeks, where I could use more perfection. I also apply a touch to the forehead and chin. The light fluid can be blended “rimless”, connects immediately with the skin and leaves a radiant complexion. No unsightly shine, but a satin finish. By the way, the product comes in four shades. My conclusion: A small product with a big effect. When I look at myself in the mirror with my “Milky” complexion, I can only say: The little ones passed my test! “Milky Boost Capsules” from Clarins, 30 pieces, approx. 22 euros… weiterlesen

3 x 3 For More Defined Facial Contours

Three renowned beauty experts explain three ways to optimize facial features. What you can achieve with hyaluronic acid filler, makeup contouring and face yoga… Accentuated cheekbones, a defined chin line and a youthful V-shaped face is the desire of many women. To regain the “top model” look with defined facial features when it has been “lost” with the aging process, explain a specialist in surgery, a make-up artist and an expert in Face Yoga. The beauty doc says: Fill it up with hyaluronic acid! “For the attractiveness and harmony of the face, the zygomatic arch in the cheek area plays a particularly important role, because it provides contour,” explains Dr. Sina Djalaei, a specialist in surgery. The problem: With increasing age, the body reduces fatty tissue, and in addition, the volume of the face decreases due to gravity. As a result of this so-called sagging effect, nasolabial and marionette wrinkles can appear deeper, and facial features can look sad and tired. Filler treatment can correct missing or lost volume in the cheek area. Dr. Djalaei:“By performing a treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers at specific points on the zygomatic arch, the doctor can bring important ligaments under tension and lift the midface again.” The result: “The cheekbones can be emphasized, and at the same time an uplifting effect can occur. The shape of the face thus usually approaches an upward, youthful and alert V-shape again, and thus the ‘top model look'”, the expert says. The nice side effect is that treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers also stimulates the body to produce new collagen, which improves the elasticity of the skin and connective tissue. In addition to an experienced doctor, the treatment also requires a suitable filler: “In addition to excellent quality, durability and tolerability, the filler must have strong lifting power, especially in the zygomatic arch, such as the Juvéderm Voluma filler.” The result can be visible for up to 24 months. In addition to accentuated cheeks, a defined jawline also gives a beautiful contour. However, “Loss of volume in the cheeks and sagging of the tissue can make the chin line look spongy,” explains Dr. Djalaei. “In addition, sagging cheeks and a double chin can develop, which patients find disturbing.” This sagging in the lower half of the face can also be corrected with hyaluronic acid fillers, “Juvéderm Volux facial filler treatment is ideal for many who want a firmer, contoured chin and jawline.”… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Bronzing Collection „Sunshine Memories“ from Artdeco

I love Italy. That’s why I was immediately drawn to the bronzing collection – because of its packaging in cobalt blue and brown. It reminds me of the wonderful ceramic and terracotta objects from the Italian town of Ostuni in Puglia. Ostuni is also known as “Città Bianca” – the white city in Italy. All the houses except the churches are whitewashed. In the narrow streets, spanned by many arches, with their often confusing interlocking houses with many outside staircases, one feels a touch of the Orient. Bronzing all year The bronzing collection includes everything you need for a radiant summer complexion. I was particularly enthusiastic about the design bronzer “Ceramic Work of Art”, which is composed of three different colors. Therefore, it is ideal to use at any time of year and for every complexion individually. The shades can be used individually or together. The best way, of course, is with a thick brush. The rather subtle pearl pigments contained in the powder reflect the light, giving the skin a natural glow. What often bothers me about bronzing powders is the darkening during the day. Here, the color remains as you applied it in the morning. Velvety and long-lasting. Vitamin E has an additional nourishing effect and prevents an unpleasant feeling of dryness. Shimmer made to measure If you just want a touch of freshness on the cheeks, use the vegan “Bronzing Blush”, also three colors with a slight shimmer. And then there is the Glow Bronzer, bronzing powder and highlighter in one. The high content of mineral mica pigments provides a pleasant glow. All powders are free of mineral oil, parabens and perfume. For the complete look in the make-up bag, there is also a vegan volume mascara in a limited design with a ceramic look. Tested for you: Body Lotion „Better Aging“ from Natalie’s Cosmetic

Dr. Natalie Lindner‘s Munich-based Doctor Brand specializes in body care products. That’s quite an advantage over the “we-can-do-everything” brands. “I’ve been a self-proclaimed skincare junkie since I was 15 and have always strived to create a body care brand that matches the high standards of facial care companies,” says the physician. Environmentally conscious and consumer-friendly Natalie’s products are free from parabens, PEGs, mineral oil, sodium lauryl sulfates (aggressive surfactants), silicones, colorants, fillers, allergens and substances of animal origin. To best protect the environment, it uses R-PET & FSC certified recycled paper for its packaging and recycled HDPE for its bottles. It sources all ingredients from Germany and makes a point of ensuring that they are evidence-based and that their efficacy has been proven through studies. Body lotions for every need The portfolio includes five body lotions for “Hydration”, “Better Aging”, “Glow”, “Smooth” for ingrown hairs and “Purity” for blemishes. I chose the “Better Aging” body lotion because it is supposed to fight several signs of aging at once, such as wrinkles, loss of elasticity and hyperpigmentation. In addition to the anti-aging vitamins A, C, E, it contains moisturizing active ingredients such as multi-molecular hyaluronic acid and squalane, nourishing organic shea butter and cell-renewing substances such as glycolic acid and bakuchiol, the plant-based alternative to retinol. Care mission fulfilled The consistency of the body lotion is pleasant, neither too liquid nor too creamy. It spreads well and is absorbed quickly. You can dress immediately without fear of stains on the fabric. In fact, the skin, especially my dry shins and upper arms, feels smoother after the first application. Well, of course, glycolic acid and retinol remove the dead skin cells. And with that, I’m already very satisfied when the skin looks and feels smoother. In addition, “Better Aging” is also supposed to improve wrinkles, scars and stretch marks on the body. However, I can not serve with that… „Better Aging Body Lotion“ from Natalie’s Cosmetic, 300 ml, 179 Euro… weiterlesen

Body Acne – Typical In Winter!

Especially in winter, acne on the body is in high season. It really blossoms. The blemishes appear especially on the décolleté, upper arms, back and buttocks. But they are far more than just a visual problem. On the body, the pimples really hurt when clothing rubs against them. Why do we always talk about “blossom” and “bloom” in connection with acne, although the appearance has nothing at all to do with the beauty of a flower? Experts still argue about the etymology of the term acne. It could be derived from the Greek word “akmé”. On the one hand it means “point, sharpness, cutting edge”, on the other hand it also means “blossom, maturity, climax”. In any case, it refers to a skin rash that is based on excessive sebum production and a cornification disorder. Causes for acne on the body “The causes of acne on the body are similar to those of facial acne,” explains Andrew Alexis, M.D., Master of Sciences Public Health at Weill Cornell College in New York. These include inflammatory processes in the skin, increased oil production, sebum and dead skin cells clogging hair follicles. However, the main culprit is a specific acne bacterium called Cutibacterium. Body acne is mainly triggered by sweat and oil. Tight-fitting clothing exacerbates the problem, which is why many athletes and sportsmen suffer from it. In men, shoulders, back, chest and buttocks are also mostly affected by the festering pustules. In women, body acne often occurs during hormonal changes, such as pregnancy or menopause, because the sebaceous glands then work more actively. Why body acne, also known as truncal acne, predominantly appears in the described zones is due to the sebaceous glands, which are larger in these areas. Autumn and winter are particularly predestined for body acne, because then several external factors are added: As outdoor temperatures drop, we heat up more and wear sweaters, scarves and warm jackets. This makes the skin drier and more sensitive. It literally gets no more air, and pimples sprout. Therefore, especially in the acne-prone areas, do not wear tight-fitting clothing and avoid fabrics that rub. The skin must be able to breathe. Stress makes body acne worse Diet can affect acne on the body, but it does not have to. Nevertheless clinical studies have shown that avoiding dairy products and foods with a high glycemic index (white flour, sugar, corn, potatoes) can reduce blemishes.Dr. Whitney Bowe, New York dermatologist and author of the book “The Beauty of Dirty Skin,” sees a close connection between the gut, brain and skin.… weiterlesen
